Tax help near you: Where to get free assistance from AARP and others in Tarrant County

Need help with your income taxes? The sooner you file, the sooner the IRS can process your refund.

Find free tax help in your city below. Locations for community tax centers (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) and AARP Foundation Tax-Aide are available to Tarrant County residents. To qualify for VITA, residents must have an individual or household income less than $60,000 annually. AARP tax help is open to anyone, but it’s targeted towards seniors and moderate- to low-income individuals.

You’ll need to bring these documents and complete this form to receive free tax assistance.

Arlington

Four community tax center locations in Arlington are providing free tax preparation assistance by IRS-certified volunteers, and another is available from the AARP Foundation. Email Maricela Avila at maricela.avila@arlingtontx.gov to find out more.

  • Arlington Human Service Center: 401 W. Sanford St., open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 1 to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Only drop-off and virtual tax preparation assistance will be provided. No appointment needed for virtual tax preparation assistance. Spanish assistance available. Sign this consent form.
  • Destiny Pointe CC VITA: Only virtual tax preparation services will be provided at this location. Sign this consent form.
  • Tarrant County College VITA at Southeast Campus: Only virtual tax preparation assistance will be provided at this location. Sign this consent form.
  • Shadow Brook Community Tax Center: 2020 S. Cooper St., open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Spanish assistance available.
  • Arlington libraries: AARP is offering free tax preparation assistance at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library and the Southwest Branch Library. Must schedule appointment in-person.

Azle

Certified tax preparers with AARP Foundation Tax-Aide will be at the Azle Memorial Library through April 14 to provide free tax preparation for individual returns. Appointments are required and must be made online here. For questions or assistance making an appointment, call the library at 817-752-2682.

Burleson

Through April 12, AARP representatives will be at the Burleson Public Library at 248 S.W. Johnson Ave. on Tuesdays and the Burleson Recreation Center at 550 N.W. Summercrest Blvd. on Thursdays to offer assistance by appointment only. Sign up at the library for appointments and pick up a form, or print the AARP Intake Form. Bring completed forms to your appointment.

Colleyville

Free tax assistance is provided by AARP. Appointments are required and can be made through the Senior Center, 2512 Glade Road, 817-503-1195. Tax help will be provided Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Colleyville Public Library, 110 Main St.

Crowley

AARP is providing free tax help at the Crowley Public Library, 409 S. Oak St., on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 817-297-6707 to schedule an appointment.

Euless

Free tax help is available at the Euless Public Library, 201 N. Ector Drive, on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Flower Mound

Make an appointment at the Flower Mound Senior Center, 2701 W. Windsor Drive, available Tuesdays, 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Call 972-874-6110 to make an appointment.

Fort Worth

  • Martin Luther King Community Center: 5565 Truman Drive. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2 to 6 p.m. Offering in-person help and tax document drop-off.

  • Tarrant County College South Campus: 5301 Campus Drive. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2 to 7 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Offering tax document curbside drop-off.

Keller Senior Center provides AARP tax assistance for seniors at 660 Johnson Road on Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Contact 817-743-4370 to schedule an appointment.

Mansfield

There are two locations providing free tax assistance to Mansfield residents.

  • Mansfield Senior Citizen Center: 106 S. Wisteria St. Mondays, 10 a..m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesdays 2 to 5 p.m.; and Fridays, 3 to 7 p.m. Contact 817-728-3680 to schedule an appointment.

North Richland Hills

Weatherford

Weatherford Public Library, 1014 Charles St., is hosting Spanish and English tax aide on Mondays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays, 12 to 6 p.m. Make an appointment online.

White Settlement Library, 8215 White Settlement Road, is open for tax drop-off Mondays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursdays, 12 to 4 p.m.; and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
