Pier 1 Imports hired a veteran retail executive as its new chief financial officer.
Jeffrey N. Boyer, 57, most recently executive vice president and chief financial officer for Dallas-based Tuesday Morning, was named to the same posts at Fort Worth-based Pier 1. He replaces Cary Turner, who was abruptly let go in February after the home furnishings company surprised Wall Street with weaker-than-expected fourth-quarter results.
“Jeff’s financial and operational expertise, including his public company CFO experience, makes him extremely well qualified to lead our finance organization,” Alex Smith, the retailer’s president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
Before joining Tuesday Morning, Boyer spent five years with 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide, where he served as chief financial officer and then as chief operating officer. Earlier, he held executive positions with Irving-based Michaels.

Boyer will begin his duties July 27. Until then, Laura A. Coffey will continue to serve as interim CFO, the company said. Shares of Pier 1 (ticker: PIR) gained 50 cents to close at $12.63.
