The Star-Telegram asked readers last week what they’d like to see the new Panther Island redevelopment project include. Here are a few of their ideas and suggestions. Got questions about Panther Island? Shoot our reporters an email: findout@star-telegram.com.

“Lots of mixed-use residential/retail/office with good, walkable streets.” —Jonathan Moss, Arlington

“To be sustainable, I think it needs to be a good mix of commercial and residential. I expect that there will be restaurants along the river, but I would hope that much of their business would come from the area itself, so that we don’t repeat the problems of the West 7th Street area.” — Timothy Fish via Facebook

“Varied live music venue, not only country! A Ferris wheel.” — Sonia Singleton, Forest Hill

Preparations are underway for Friday’s grand opening of the new Tanger Outlets Fort Worth mall near I-35W and Texas 114, not far from Texas Motor Speedway on Thursday. A Ferris wheel is one of the attractions.

“Affordable housing and an emphasis on public transportation with a greater emphasis on banning personal vehicles. Public spaces similar to Denver’s downtown park/botanical garden with native plants and culturally inclusive gardens for direct-to-consumer consumption.” — Oscar Enriquez, Diamond Hill

“A sensory area for people with special needs, autism, MS, Down syndrome, etc.” — Shannon Lowe, Fort Worth

“What about a green space where the toxic stadium is removed? That’s why no one has come in with another team. More cattle-drive history, have space for a clean friendly farmers market and food trucks. Outdoor concerts make it a blast at Christmas. Clean the river.” — Tracey Walker Boyer via Facebook

“Keep Cowtown classy. No big glass buildings. Needs building murals and lots of trees!” — Allan Greif via Facebook

“World’s largest indoor greenhouse with tropical plants with a upper walkway over. Like Bass Pro in Louisiana. A workers’ Panther Island summer heat retreat during summer. Build underground subway connecting all new buildings from the start to access to new buildings.” — Kelley Hooper, Fort Worth’s River District

“Sports complex with a pro outdoor basketball court that could be converted into beach volleyball and a tennis court. A pro outdoor X Games place. A super arcade center with race track. Maybe a small football field that hosts pee wee football games.” — Dameion Smith via Facebook

“Well, I’ll be really disappointed if I drive all the way out there and there are zero panthers.” — Matthew Nelson via Facebook
