These Tarrant County businesses are hiring amid slew of layoffs, hour cuts

While employers are laying off workers or suspending operations because of the novel coronavirus, some essential businesses need help and are hiring. Here is a list of openings.

Walmart: Walmart is hiring for warehouse personnel, floor clerical, freight handlers, season warehouse workers, Walmart.com asset protection personnel and assistant manager trainee. Applications can be sent through the Walmart website, Learn4Good, Job Searcher, OPT Resume and Local Job Bulletin. Applicants would need to be able to work across Tarrant County.

Tom Thumb: Tom Thumb is “hiring fast” according to its job listings. They’re looking for night crew, grocery clerks, cashiers, frozen clerk, overnight grocery stocker and courtesy clerk. Applications can be submitted via Higher Hire and Seasoned. Applicants selected for the positions must be able to work in Arlington, Mansfield, Grand Prairie and Dallas.

Amazon: Amazon is looking for warehouse workers, an injury prevention specialist and a senior energy program manager for sustainability. Jobs are in Fort Worth and Coppell. Submit applications through LinkedIn of the Amazon website.

Target: Target needs employees in Fort Worth, Arlington, Grand Prairie and Cedar Hill. Available positions include security specialist, front of the store associate, Starbucks barista and merchandiser. Anybody through LinkedIn and Glass Door.

UPS: UPS needs package handlers in Arlington and Fort Worth. Openings are part time and require applicants to be able to regularly lift 70 pounds, stand for a long period of time and have full mobility of arms and hands during their time in the warehouse. Apply for part-time, full time and seasonal jobs at UPS jobs.

IHOP: IHOP in Arlington is looking for servers, cashiers, dishwashers, hosts and a general manager. Positions range from part time to full time and may be overnight. Servers should be able to lift at least 25 pounds and have full mobility of arms and hands to perform tasks in the restaurant. Applications can be submitted on Glass Door.

HEB: HEB in Fort Worth is looking for a cashier. The position is part-time and applicants must be at least 18, attend orientation and have mobility of their arms and leges for work in the store. Apply on ZipRecruiter.

Sabre Industries: Sabre Industries is hiring welders, equipment operators and machine operators for Sabre Tubular Structures and general labor, industrial maintenance and paint and blast for Sabre Galvanize. The company has locations in Alvarado, Fort Worth and Kennedale, as well as a location in Conroe. You an apply at Sabre’s website.
