This longtime landmark on Camp Bowie Boulevard is closing its doors

In what should be its busiest season, Kay’s Hallmark Shop on Camp Bowie Boulevard is making this holiday season its last.

Pictures shared on Facebook by the Camp Bowie District page showed the holiday store, located at 4828 Camp Bowie Blvd., with a sign hanging from the front that reads “Store Closing.”

Owner Kay Orth confirmed Thursday that the store was closing after being in businesses for more than 30 years. She said the reasons were many, but mostly brick-and-mortar retail has gotten difficult to maintain. And with traffic count down and property taxes going up, she decided to start a new chapter of her life.

“I have three grandkids and my daughter has one on the way,” Orth said. “It will be a new adventure.”

Kay’s Hallmark Shop will close its doors in mid to late January.
