Amazon hiring 400 more workers at Haslet fulfillment center
Amazon is hiring again in Haslet.
The giant online retailer, which added 500 workers at the fulfillment center earlier this year, says it’s hiring 400 more full-time associates at the 1.1-million-square-foot facility, which handles small items such as books, DVDs and beauty products.
Amazon spokeswoman Ashley Robinson said the additional jobs are the result of an expansion that allows more orders to be processed. The center, which opened in 2013 along Westport Parkway between Interstate 35W and Farm Road 156, has more than 1,000 full-time workers.
According to the job description on the company’s website, the jobs pay $11.25 an hour and offer benefits including healthcare, a 401(k) retirement plan and stock awards.
Requirements include a high school diploma, the ability to lift up to 49 pounds “with or without reasonable accommodation,” and the ability to stand or walk for 10 to 12 hours and continuously use stairs. Amazon says the fulfillment center is air conditioned.
The Haslet site is one of 10 Amazon fulfillment centers in the U.S. using Kiva robotics to move products around. Since 2013, Amazon says, it has created more than 1,500 full-time jobs at its three Texas centers, including others in Coppell and Schertz, near San Antonio.
