Sorry Louisiana, Buc-ee’s will remain a Texas thing

Buc-ee’s, the popular highway rest stop known for its Beaver nuggets, cheap gas and clean bathrooms, will remain a Texas thing — for now.

The company has backed out of plans to open its first store outside of Texas, along Interstate 12 in Louisiana, according to the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report.

Buc-ee’s recently informed the developer that it would back out of a purchase agreement for 15 acres at the intersection of Interstate 12 and Millerville Road.

“I’m sad for Baton Rouge,” Windy Gladney told the Business Journal.

Of course, we can enjoy the Buc-ee’s experience in North Texas. In May, Buc-ee’s opened its first Metroplex location in far north Fort Worth, at the southwest corner of Texas 114 and Interstate 35W — across from the Texas Motor Speedway.

Another is under construction along Interstate 35 in Denton.
