Calallen ISD names superintendent finalist
The Calallen Independent School District Board of Trustees has named a lone finalist for the superintendent role.
The school board chose Scot Hafley, an administrator who previously worked at the Wichita Falls Independent School District.
Calallen ISD's previous superintendent, Emily Lorenz, shared in April that she was leaving the district for a leadership role at another school district.
State law requires a 21-day waiting period before finalists can be officially hired as superintendents of Texas public school districts.
Hafley was named lone finalist on July 2.
According to a Calallen ISD news release, the district anticipates Hafley will be officially hired on July 23 during a special school board meeting. His first day would be in early August.
Hafley has a bachelor's in education from Ouachita Baptist University and a master's in history from Louisiana Tech University. He has a superintendent certification from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Hafley has experience as a teacher and a coach, including at H.M. King High School and at Haltom High School.
At Wichita Falls ISD, Hafley worked as director of athletics and assistant superintendent.
"On behalf of the Calallen ISD Board of Trustees, I am proud to welcome Mr. Scot Hafley as the next Superintendent of Calallen Independent School District," board President Heather Luckenbach said in a news release. "Throughout the selection process, Mr. Hafley demonstrated the character, experience, and leadership that reflect the values of our Wildcat community."
Luckenbach described Hafley's reputation for fostering high-performing teams, cultivating a culture of trust and collaboration, and maintaining a commitment to student success, according to the news release.
"I look forward to working alongside the Board, our staff, students, families, and community as one team to build on Calallen's proud tradition of excellence," Hafley said in the release. "Most importantly, I want to thank my wife, Marisa, and our son, TJ, whose unwavering love, support, and willingness to embracethis new chapter make this opportunity possible."
