2 missing Athens girls found safe in Smith County, Amber Alert canceled, officials say

The Amber Alert issued for two missing Athens, Texas, girls was discontinued late Thursday night after the girls were found safe in Smith County, officials said.

Willow Webb, 14, and Bonnie Webb, 11, went missing from Athens on Thursday afternoon, and law enforcement officials believed the girls were in grave or immediate danger.

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office posted their thanks on social media to the Department of Public Safety and all the officials and law enforcement officers who helped with the search.

“It all came together to get the(m) back safe and unharmed,” the post said.

The sheriff’s office said they will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the girls’ disappearance.

Athens is a city in Henderson County and about 105 miles southeast of Fort Worth. Smith County where the girls were found is east of Henderson County.

Willow and Bonnie had been last seen in the 4300 block of County Road 1408 in Athens around 4:15 p.m. Thursday.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts was asked to call the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office at 903-675-5128.
