ARLINGTON -- The last-known illegally operating game room in Arlington has been shut down.
Arlington police executed a search warrant Thursday at the Triple Spin Game Room on Division Street. Officers arrested six people there for outstanding warrants, issued 28 tickets for gambling and seized 89 electronic game machines.
The city has been working since August 2007 to shut down these types of businesses through code inspections and undercover investigations, which target players winning large amounts of cash from the electronic casino-style games. At least 70 game rooms where operating in Arlington when the initiative started.
Eight-liners are legal in Texas, but winners can’t receive cash or prizes worth more than $5.

Game rooms also violate the city’s zoning rules, which allow businesses to offer games of skill, like pool and darts, but not games of chance.
