Fort Worth Women’s March organizers hope for more than 5,000 in attendance on Sunday
The Tarrant County Democratic Women’s Club hopes to unite more than 5,000 women’s rights activists on Sunday during their annual march.
Most other marches in the movement will take place Saturday, but the Fort Worth event is being held the next day because of the Fort Worth Stock Show parade.
The march will start at 2 p.m. at the Tarrant County Courthouse. Participants will make a 30-minute trek to the convention center, where they will hear speeches from activists. They are expected back at the courthouse by 4 p.m.
Activists with the Tarrant County Democratic Women’s Club plan to promote women who are running for office, club president Carol Cordell said, but support for any women’s rights issue is welcome.
“We need more women in office,” Cordell said. “Government would be different, better, if we had more women.”
