Haltom City robbery in which clerk was shot may be linked to 2nd incident, police say

Hours after a convenience store clerk was shot during a robbery in Haltom City, another robbery was committed nearby, police say. Investigators are looking for any links between the two incidents.

The first robbery, shortly before 4 p.m., happened at Mr. Convenience at 3624 Denton Highway, police said.

During a struggle between the clerk and a suspect, the gun discharged, shooting the clerk. The man was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, and police did not immediately respond to questions about the clerk’s condition Friday.

The suspect fled in a red BMW car later found empty in North Richland Hills, police said.

About four hours later, police responded to a robbery call at Carson Food Mart at 2531 Carson Street, about a mile and a half away from the first robbery. Witnesses told police that suspects were seen fleeing in a white Cadillac sedan.

Officers found the vehicle and tried to stop it, but the suspects led police on a short pursuit to the Walmart near the intersection of Beach Street and Texas 121, according to Haltom City and Fort Worth police, who assisted in their jurisdiction.

The suspect vehicle lost control and the suspects left on foot, Haltom City police said. One suspect was quickly apprehended and faces a charge of aggravated robbery, police said.

Three other occupants who ran from police were not located, police said, but investigators from Haltom City and other agencies are following several leads.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call Haltom City police at 817-222-7000.
