Want help through Back to School Roundup? Here's how to register
School is out, but Tarrant County leaders are asking families to think about next school year as part of the annual Back To School Roundup's recent kick off event.
The 14th Annual Tarrant County Back To School Roundup is set for Aug. 9 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Eligible families can participate in a free one-stop array of services organized to help families get ready for a new school year. About 10,000 qualifying Tarrant County children can get free supplies and dental, health and vision screenings at the event.
"We all can agree that the costs associated with getting our kids ready for school can quickly add up, especially for lower-income families," said Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley in a news release. "That's why Roundup is so important for Tarrant County. If we can ease the burden on families while ensuring our kids are ready to go from head to toe, then we're setting them up for success."
The event is funded by private donations and in-kind contributions. It is a collaboration between several entities, including Tarrant County, 20 school districts, cites, nonprofit agencies, state agencies and the public health department.
Only eligible families that have registered by Aug. 7 will be able to attend the Roundup.
People can register online, or in person at a designated event.
