The Texas & Pacific Building symbolized modern transportation when it was constructed in 1931 as a replacement for an earlier station. Today the building is again on the cutting-edge as it anchors the rejuvenation of Fort Worth’s Lancaster corridor.

Designed in the Zigzag Moderne Art Deco style, the opulent lobby features marble floors, metal-inlaid panel ceilings, nickel and brass fixtures and elegant chandeliers.

Due in part to its separation from downtown, the station declined along with the rest of the Lancaster Avenue area when the elevated portion of Interstate 30 was built in 1958. The railroad vacated the terminal in 1967 when passenger service in Fort Worth ended.

The building came back to life when rail service was re-established between Dallas and Fort Worth in 2001 and I-30 was relocated. Today, it is one of the most exquisitely restored examples of Art Deco architecture in Texas and the fifteen-million-dollar project to redevelop Lancaster Avenue as a pedestrian-oriented urban boulevard is a beautiful success enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.

The TRE Commuter Rail is directly behind the lofts and TEXRail opened this year on time and under budget. TEXRail takes commuters right into DFW Airport, Terminal B. Transit oriented communities are gaining popularity and are a big part of our future!
