An Italian restaurant from Aspen, Colorado, will replace Bella Italia on its landmark corner at Camp Bowie Boulevard and Merrick Street, according to a city zoning application.

Acquolina, one of several Aspen restaurants owned in part by energy executive John Sellers of Fort Worth, has applied for a zoning change to build a 9,020-square-foot restaurant and parking at 5139 Camp Bowie Blvd.

Acquolina is one of Aspen’s highest-rated restaurants. According to an Aspen Times review, it “feels like Italy, minus the jet lag. ... It’s Aspen with a Roman soul.”

The request will be considered by the city Zoning Commission on Feb. 11 and goes before the City Council on Feb. 24 . Acquolina had to request the change for more parking space.

The application is filed by managing partner Carlos Solorzano-Smith of Aspen Hospitality Group, which owns Acquolina along with Duemani and Angelo’s, all Italian restaurants.

Sellers is a co-founder of Fort Worth-based Double Eagle Energy and Double Eagle Development.
