New Fort Worth restaurant on Near Southside to offer Mexican-Japanese fusion dishes

Tacos will meet ramen at a new Mexican-Japanese restaurant to open on the Near Southside.

Shōgun Taqueria is new from restaurateur Francisco “Paco” Islas, replacing his Paco’s concept at 1508 W. Magnolia Ave.

Another Paco’s remains open regular hours at 156 W. Fourth St. downtown.

Shōgun Taqueria will open by April, offering kimchi quesadillas, chicken tinga dumplings and carnitas tonkotsu ramen. The menu will combine familiar dishes and styles from both cuisines, Islas said in an announcement.

The goal is to bring the two cuisines together in a way that is “fresh yet familiar,” he wrote.

An adjacent speakeasy with craft cocktails will open later, he wrote.
