Here’s where to find a ‘power bowl’ of brisket this week, and more Fort Worth BBQ

Thanksgiving weekend is usually a time for barbecue or Tex-Mex — anything with more spice than turkey.

There may be no better post-holiday burn than spicy carne guisada made with prime brisket — a weekend special at Panther City BBQ.

Lines form at Panther City for the brisket or ribs. But don’t miss the Mexi-cue, and particularly not a carne guisada that will change the way you look at ordinary beef tips.

Panther City takes first-rate brisket cuts, spices them with cumin and chiles and dishes them up with rice, borracho beans and fresh flour tortillas.

It’s billed as the “South Side Power Bowl,” and it definitely packs a punch.

Panther City is one of two area barbecue restaurants listed in the new Michelin Guide Texas. It’s listed as “recommended” behind Goldee’s BBQ south of Kennedale, which was awarded a “Michelin Bib” for exceptional food and value.

Panther City is open Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving.

It’s regularly open for lunch and dinner Wednesdays through Sundays at 201 E. Hattie St. (on some maps, 201 E. Pennsylvania Ave.); 682-250-4464, panthercitybbq.com.
