A popular Tex-Mex restaurant will return to Hurst, and joins Magdalena’s for catering
The 58-year-old Pulido’s Kitchen & Cantina restaurants will reopen two more locations in the next few weeks and also will now offer catering by chef Juan Rodriguez’s Magdalena’s restaurant.
Pulido’s, JD’s Hamburgers, the forthcoming Margie’s Italian Kitchen and other Westland Restaurant Group properties will partner with Magdalena’s, a caterer and pop-up supper club, according to an announcement Monday.
Rodriguez and Westland co-owner Gigi Howell worked together in 2010 as a chef and manager at Reata.
Magdalena’s, 502 Grand Ave., opened in 2015 serving monthly dinners and also operates catering and a food truck. Juan Rodriguez has put off other plans to open a restaurant at 1216 N. Main St. and has put that space up for rent.
Restaurateurs Howell and Bourke Harvey bought Pulido’s from the founding family, updated the menu and refreshed the look at the flagship restaurant, 2900 Pulido St. near Interstate 30 at Montgomery Street.
The Pulido’s in Hurst, 1224 Precinct Line Road, will open in about a month, Harvey said. The location in Eastland, 10051 Interstate 20, will follow in November.
A former location in Benbrook has been sold to Don Melquias Mexican Restaurant in Granbury, according to online applications.
Westland Restaurants also owns West Side Cafe, a breakfast-lunch standard at 7950 Camp Bowie West Blvd., and the 71-year-old Margie’s, 9805 Camp Bowie West Blvd. in far west Fort Worth.
Margie’s, a postwar-era roadside landmark in the former rural Westland community, needed more work, but Harvey said the company hopes to open it by winter.
The company also plans La Iglesia, an upscale interior Mexico restaurant at 3420 Longvue Ave., and a fourth restaurant space at 9813 Camp Bowie West Blvd.
