The first Original is closing, and here are openings

—Lots of readers

Here’s the latest rundown on current openings and moves:

Yes, The Original Mexican Eats Cafe’s 93-year-old location at 4713 Camp Bowie Blvd. is really closing.

March 31 is the last day, due to a long-standing lease dispute. The second Original will carry on the tradition at 1400 N. Main St.

Ranchman’s Ponder Steakhouse, 110 W. Bailey St., Ponder, is now expected to reopen in about two weeks after a series of construction setbacks.

Quince Fort Worth, 1701 River Run, has started taking reservations to open March 27. Watch resy.com.

Fireside Pies, 628 Harrold St., is tentatively scheduled to open March 24 at its new location after moving from Crockett Row.

Lola’s Cuban Food, 4608 Bryant Irvin Road, is getting close to its soft opening and plans to be open by early April.

Heirloom Garden Cafe, 6700 Z Boaz Place, will open by mid-April. It’s a new patio restaurant inside a garden store by Tokyo Cafe chef Kevin Martinez.

Son of a Butcher, 480 Texas 114 West, will open in late March. It’s a new sliders-and-shakes restaurant from Dallas-based FB Society, the parent of Whiskey Cake and originator of Velvet Taco.

JD’s Hamburgers, 9901 Camp Bowie Blvd. West, damaged by the March 2 storm, will remain closed for now as workers rebuild the 60-year-old roadhouse.

Winslow’s Wine has Irish stew

Hey, Bud! I saw the St. Patrick’s Day list of restaurants. What about some good Irish stew?

—Feeling green

Yes. Besides all the hangouts for Irish potato nachos and shepherd’s pie listed here earlier this week — see star-telegram.com/eatsbeat — Winslow’s Wine Cafe will serve Irish whiskey beef stew.

It’s at 4101 Camp Bowie Blvd.; winslowswinecafe.com.
