News bulletin: Grady Spears is back. Spears, the founding chef at Reata and now-gone Horseshoe Hill, will serve $55 chicken-fried steak dinners and $65 rib-eye dinners on Wednesday nights beginning Nov. 30 at the Fort Brewery and Pizza, 2737 Tillar St. Then, he’ll cook dinners nightly and Sunday brunch Jan. 18-Feb. 4 as a short-term gig during the Stock Show.

Spears’ career is a melodrama, sometimes a dark one, but “a lot of people were craving his food,” brewery owner Will Churchill said.

The event is limited to 65 diners each night; fkevents.com.

The Brand Room steakhouse expanding kitchen

Hey, Bud! What happened to that other chicken-fried steak place? Was it the Brand Room?

The Brand Room, 212 W. Exchange Ave., split from Horseshoe Hill months ago and is open as a bar while the kitchen is being expanded. Watch for the return of full dining service in the cozy cowboy saloon that was a centerpiece of “Yellowstone” filming.

The Brand Room was formerly a private club and the VIP club during the filming of “1883,” a prequel to “Yellowstone.”

Fort Worth schoolteacher on ‘Chopped’

Hey, Bud! Can you write about the local teacher on “Chopped”?

—Fort Worth ISD friend

“Chopped” will star schoolteachers instead of chefs in a special “Thankful for Teachers” episode that airs beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday on the Food Network. Fort Worth science teacher Kathleen Cluchey of Young Women’s Leadership Academy is among those featured.
