For National Cheeseburger Day, here’s more on the new burger places in Fort Worth
JD’s Hamburgers in Westland open
Hey, Bud! What’s the latest on that new hamburger place?
— Lots of readers
JD’s Hamburgers, in a old remodeled tavern at 9901 Camp Bowie Blvd. West , 1½ miles west of Loop 820 in the Westland neighborhood, is open in time for National Cheeseburger Day Sept. 18.
Owner Gigi Howell serves burgers with peach pico de gallo or Hatch chile queso on sweet-sourdough buns. JD’s will also have Martin House Brewing’s “Westland Rattler” beer in honor of a rattlesnake found in the wall during remodeling.
It’s across the street from Dayne’s Craft Barbecue, which serves top-ranked burgers Fridays and Sundays.
Jon’s Grille burgers, BBQ open near TCU
Hey, Bud! I meant that other new burger place. What’s the latest?
— Still catching up
Jon’s Grille, 2905 W. Berry St. near TCU, is in its third week serving thin- or thick-patty burgers, brisket and shakes for lunch and until 2 a.m. every night.
Fred’s Texas Cafe now open 7 days
Hey, Bud! What do those new places mean for Fred’s?
— Diablo burger loyalist
Mainly, that Fred’s Texas Cafe is doing more business than ever.
The new location at 7101 Camp Bowie Blvd. West is now open for lunch and dinner seven days a week (finally!).
A Sunday or a Monday might be good days to go. It closes at 10 p.m.
(JD’s will be open later, or go to Jon’s or Rogers Roundhouse, another good burger grill open until 2 a.m.)
