Paris Coffee Shop to open for dinner

Hey, Bud! I thought the Paris Coffee Shop was going to open for dinner?

—Brian, Fort Worth

The remodeled Paris, 704 W. Magnolia Ave., will resume dinner hours Sept. 1 after operating mostly as a lunch cafe since 1926.

It’ll serve southside diners until 9 p.m. Thursdays and 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, offering the same chicken-fried steaks and daily platters plus a nightly special and cocktails.

(If you haven’t found a favorite there yet, the breakfasts are similar to the old Paris, and they’re now served seven days. Daily lunch and dinner menus add more salads.)

Deep sadness over deep-dish pizza

Hey, Bud! Gino’s East closed. Where do we go for deep-dish pizza?

—Chicagoan in Arlington

Gino’s in Arlington couldn’t survive COVID, diets and the Rangers’ slump. It has now gone the way of Pizzeria Uno — meaning out of Texas.

BJ’s Brewhouse and Old Chicago both serve a deep-dish pizza, along with Uno Dué Go at DFW Airport. But they won’t satisfy a Gino’s fan.
