Parker County peaches are here, but where? Fort Worth market-barbecue stand is closed

Ridgmar Farmers Market & BBQ closed

Hey, Bud! Where do we get Parker County peaches now that Ridgmar Farmers Market is closed?

—Louise, Fort Worth

This was news to me, but the Hutton family’s Ridgmar produce market and former Cowtown BBQ restaurant at 900 Texas 183 in White Settlement closed last month after 22 years under various operators.

Look for Parker County peaches at Weatherford Farmers Market. 217 Fort Worth Highway, or in Fort Worth at Sayers Fort Worth Farmers Market, 5507 E. Belknap St. in Haltom City.

Hey, Bud! What happened to Hunter Brothers H3 Ranch Steakhouse?

—Stockyards regular

H3 Ranch, 101 E. Exchange Ave., is taking a couple of months off for updates now that it and the Stockyards Hotel belong to the nearby Drover.

If you miss the food, it’s similar at Lucile’s, 4700 Camp Bowie Blvd. (In the Stockyards, it’s a good time to try the new ownership at the Star Cafe or check out the Brand Room.)

—Donna, Fort Worth

Ann Liu says it’ll be about two months before Little Lilly reopens after a kitchen fire at 6100 Camp Bowie Blvd. Customers have donated more than $8,000 to a GoFundMe page supporting both repairs and employees’ salaries.

Cackle & Oink barbecue in Sherman ranks No. 1

Hey, Bud! I saw a website said the best barbecue in the U.S. is at Cackle & Oink BBQ in Sherman. Can that be right?

—Message to facebook.com/diningguy

A guy from St. Louis wrote an article for St. Louis-based TravelAwaits.com. It ranked Cackle & Oink as No. 1 in the country. Cackle & Oink, 3210 Texoma Pakrway, is known for spicy baby-back ribs like in St. Louis.

So there ya go. (It’s popular, just not the same way as Hill Country barbecue.)
