In search of the best catfish, barbecue and Kansas City BBQ in Fort Worth restaurants

Belzoni’s, Goldee’s and KC BBQ too

Hey, Bud! I’ll be in Fort Worth for the basketball game. Where’s the best ... ?

—Several questions from several readers

Catfish: IMHO, it’s at Belzoni’s, 110 Jim Wright Freeway (Loop 820 West), White Settlement.

Barbecue: Texas Monthly says Goldee’s, 4645 Dick Price Road south of Kennedale.

Kansas City barbecue: Robinson’s, 1028 E. Berry St. (J.W. Robinson used to work at Gates.)

North Carolina barbecue: Does not apply.

Goldee’s Barbecue south of Kennedale is ranked the No. 1 barbecue restaurant in Texas in the latest Texas Monthly magazine ratings.

Kimbell, Modern good for lunch ...

Hey, Bud! What’s a secret place for lunch near Dickies Arena?

—Waco wanderer

I’d go to the art museum cafes, Cafe Modern or the Kimbell Café, before a day game. They’re only a 1-mile walk or drive away.

... or just hit the Quickway grill

Hey, Bud! What if I don’t want to spend that much?

—Same

Taco Heads or Montgomery Street Cafe. And honestly, the Quickway grocery and grill three blocks north at 1604 Montgomery St. has great burgers.
