Fatburger restaurant from Los Angeles to open 3rd location here north of Fort Worth
Texas likes Fatburger so much, we’re getting a third location.
A new restaurant for California-based Fatburger will open in the Keller Market Place shopping center, officials confirmed.
A permit has been filed for construction of a Fatburger at 1521 Keller Parkway.
That would join the legendary chain’s current locations at 1807 N. Collins St., north Arlington, and 6039 Precinct Line Road, North Richland Hills.
The Keller location is the first in Tarrant County for Dallas-based Croft Ventures, which is opening 25 Fatburgers across Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio and Austin.
“We are ready to expand Fatburger to the state where everything is bigger,” owner Curtis Croft said in a news release.
The location is on a strip of burger and chicken restaurants in Keller, between a local Chapps Burgers and Kansas-based Freddy’s Frozen Custard.
Local franchisee Maisha Bankhead owns the other successful local Fatburgers, a Texas extension of a Los Angeles franchise founded by Black entrepreneur Lovie Yancey.
“It’s a throwback to the old-time burger stand,” Bankhead said on a recent Eats Beat podcast.
She’s a California native and grew up eating Fatburgers at an early location on La Ciénaga Boulevard in LA.
“My mother and I would go to Fatburger across from the Beverly Canter, and the milkshakes were divine,” Bankhead said.
The chain not only serves burgers and fries but also offers a choice of turkey burgers, chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers and the newest alternative, the Impossible burger wheat-based substitute.
Fatburger also offers hot dogs, Buffalo wings, three kinds of fries, onion rings and hand-dipped shakes in seven flavors, including plant-based “vegan shakes.”
The North Richland Hills and Arlington locations are open for lunch and dinner daily; 817-576-4774 or 817-962-0067, fatburger.com.
