Finding takeout Valentine’s dinner in Fort Worth: steak, Italian food, calf fries (!)
Valentine’s takeout: Love begins at home
Hey, Bud! I saw the Valentine’s list, but is anybody doing takeout dinners?
—Kathy, Fort Worth
My favorite from the list is Riscky’s Steakhouse, 120 E. Exchange Ave., offering an $89.95-per-couple takeout rib-eye, filet, sides, salads and a platter of calf fries. (That was the first restaurant anywhere to serve calf fries, so they’re a tradition.) Call 817-624-4800; risckys.com. Also, Campisi’s has good home-delivered steaks and Italian food.
Firebirds Wood Fired Grill opens in north Fort Worth
Hey, Bud! I see where Firebirds is opening Valentine’s night. What’s that?
—Rick, Keller
Firebirds is a popular chain grill from North Carolina with locations nationwide. The Fort Worth location will open Valentine’s Day at 2900 Amador Drive, near the north Fort Worth Chuy’s. Check out the Eats Beat podcast for more.
Blue Butterfly Cafe will open in west Fort Worth
Hey, Bud! What’s opening in the 6333 Camp Bowie center since Olivellas moved?
—Alberta, Fort Worth
From what I can tell, Blue Butterfly Cafe will be some sort of new restaurant or shop affiliated with the Tennessee-based Trim Healthy Mama recipes and videos. (If anybody’s still hungry, The Lunch Box is right next door for chicken salad and pie.) Olivella’s pizza and wine shop moved to 4910 Camp Bowie Blvd.
