Where Restaurant Week is a curbside special

Hey, Bud! Are any of the DFW Restaurant Week participants offering curbside pickup instead of dine-in?

— Amy in a comment at facebook.com/diningguy

City Works Bistro, 5288 Monahans Ave., is serving both lunch and dinner curbside and donating 20% to the Lena Pope charity through Sept. 5. The lunch menu is $19 with chili and a burger, pork tacos or an ahi tuna chopped salad, and the $39 dinner features a Caesar with pork ribs, pan-seared salmon or smoked pork mac-and-cheese.

Fire Oak in Weatherford (through Sept. 5), Next Bistro in Colleyville (through Aug. 22) and Moxie’s in Southlake (through Aug. 22) can also serve their lunch and dinner specials curbside. (That $19 lunch is the best deal, and most restaurants offer it until 4 p.m.)

Start in Arlington, but don’t miss lunch

Hey, Bud! Where first for Restaurant Week?

— Guy in Paris Coffee Shop

Start at Piccolo Mondo, the traditional Italian fine-dining restaurant in Arlington, because that special ends Aug. 15. For a steak. go to B&B Butchers at lunch through Sept. 5 for the $39 filet platter (the $19 lunch plus an upgrade). The best value is the $49 dinner through Sept. 5 at Bonnell’s, Grace or Waters, but don’t overlook the $39 deal at Rise N°3 Salon de Souffle.

Thanks to Fred’s for masking up

Hey, Bud! I stopped in to get my Fred Burger fix but I found an empty restaurant?

— Helen, Bedford

Both Fred’s Texas Cafes are open again after a few days of being short-staffed due to a positive test and an asymptomatic case. (The Fred’s crew is wearing masks again, so thank them for helping keep diners safe. Tell your favorite restaurateur to mask everybody up again for a while.)
