Shhh! It’s top secret, but here are leaked menus for DFW Restaurant Week in Fort Worth

The annual DFW Restaurant Week summer charity dining promotion is weeks away, and a few restaurants are accidentally giving us a preview.

The list of restaurants and menus does not come out until July 12 for the Aug. 6-Sept. 4 Restaurant “Week,” really a month of discounted lunches and dinners at more than 100 Dallas-Fort Worth restaurants.

Part of each meal goes to the Lena Pope children’s agency in Fort Worth or to a food bank in Dallas.

DFW Restaurant Week usually keeps a tight lid on menus and specials until the list is announced on “Reservation Day.”

But Google sleuthing turned up these specials accidentally posted early (watch for more July 12):

Piccolo Mondo, 829 E. Lamar Blvd., the white-tablecloth Italian restaurant in Arlington, posted a bargain $39 dinner offer Aug. 9-15 only.

There’s a choice of four entrees: salmon, seafood angel-hair pasta, a veal chop or a ham-and-cheese-stuffed chicken breast, all with a house salad.

The dinners start with escargot, carpaccio or shrimp in cream sauce. The dessert choices are tiramisu and spumoni.

Piccolo Mondo is one of the best old-time restaurants west of Dallas and worth the drive anytime. It’s open for lunch and dinner weekdays, for dinner Saturdays and Sundays; 817-265-9174, piccolomondo.com

(Technically, you can’t make a reservation for this special until July 12. But ask.)

Kirby’s Steakhouse, 3305 Texas 114 East, is the Southlake location of an old-guard Dallas prime steakhouse founded by the same family that started America’s first drive-in restaurants, the Pig Stand.

Kirby’s has come a long way from the Pig Stands of last century. The $45 dinner special Aug. 6-Sept. 5 will feature filet mignon, garlic-parmesan salmon, rack of lamb or pecan chicken.

The sides include a spinach salad, a spicy feta spread or appetizer portions of smoked tenderloin or chicken-fried steak with an inventive smoked-blue-cheese-onion cream gravy. For an extra $6, start with a blackened scallop.

The dessert choices are a Bailey’s chocolate mousse or a Key lime tart.

Kirby’s has thrived in Southlake for 22 years despite the onslaught of newer chain steakhouses, in part by offering shuttle service for nearby hotels.

It’s open for dinner Tuesdays through Saturdays; 817-410-2221, kirbyssteakhouse.com.

Texas de Brazil, 101 N. Houston St. in Fort Worth, is always an all-you-can-eat Brazilian churrascaria. But on Aug. 9-Sept. 5, the dinner price is knocked down to $39 if you make a Restaurant Week reservation.

If you’ve never gone, Texas de Brazil dinners start with lobster bisque and a trip to a giant salad bar with cheeses and charcuterie.

Then the servers start arriving with skewers of beef, chicken, pork, lamb, sausage and ribs.

It’s a big meal, but it’s fun. If you eat mostly salad and choose small portions of the meats, you can dine carefully and still enjoy the show and support Lena Pope.

It’s open for dinner nightly and also for lunch Friday and Sunday (the Restaurant Week special is not served at lunch); 817-882-9500, texasdebrazil.com.
