Eats Beat

Fort Worth art museum’s lunch cafe is open again. But there have been some changes.

The Kimbell Art Museum restaurant has reopened as the Kimbell Café, trimmed down for now from the popular buffet.

Instead of going through a serving line, diners choose a table either on the patio or in the rearranged dining room and then go to the counter to order box lunches with an entree, salad, fruit, cookie and drink.

As usual, the offerings includes a sandwich, salad, quiche or the museum’s famous soups.

Chef Peter Kriedler’s menu last weekend included a roast chicken-havarti sandwich, a spinach-artichoke quiche, chicken salad and tomato-basil or black-eyed peas-and-ham soups. It’s $14 for two items, or $12.50 for one.

Diners order with pencils from a simple check-box paper menu, in accordance with state health orders from Gov. Greg Abbott written with input from the Texas Restaurant Association.

The cafe is open for lunch daily except Mondays. (Opening time is staggered: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, noon Friday, 11:30 a.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.)

It’s at 3333 Camp Bowie Blvd.; 817-332-8451 ext. 277. The website should be updated soon at kimbellart.org/visit/dine.
