Are you missing those State Fair corny dogs? They’re at a fried chicken stand near you

The Golden Chick fast-food fried chicken restaurants will sell Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs through Oct. 25, the company announced Tuesday.

Fletcher’s dogs are the iconic food item at the State Fair of Texas, an annual Dallas festival. But that’s canceled this year, along with the 500,000 corny dogs the vendor usually sells.

So Golden Chick, also a Fair food, will also sell corny dogs from now through what would have been the end of the fair.

The corny dogs are $5, or $7.99 as a combo.

In the announcement, Golden Chick president Jim Stevens said, “After the year we’ve had we could all use a little comfort food. ... Th partnership makes perfect sense.”

J. Sullivan, identified as the chicken stands’ executive chef, was quoted saying that his team is working to “ensure we are providing the same hand-battered, made to order product that would have been offered at the State Fair” at 187 Golden Chick restaurants across Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.

In the announcement, Aaron Fletcher of the corny dog family said: “We knew that something had to be done to reach the hundreds of thousands of fans that would be disappointed.”

Golden Chick has 14 locations in Tarrant County; goldenchick.com.
