Vegan taquerias? They’re popping up in Fort Worth, including a new one near TCU
Belenty’s Love taqueria is new on circle near TCU
Hey, Bud! How is a vegan taqueria going to make it when a regular taco place can’t even survive Blue Bonnet Circle?

Belenty’s Love near TCU is a popular taqueria, and it just happens to be vegan. If you think about it, so much of tacos’ flavor is in the vegges and the salsas. Soy chorizo, portobello or tofu still make great tacos, burritos or chilaquiles, so don’t be scared. I haven’t gone yet, but so far the reception is great. It serves breakfast through dinner weekdays and Saturdays, breakfast and lunch Sundays at 3516 Blue Bonnet Circle, 817-862-9008, belentyslove.com. (Mariachi’s Dine-In, 301 S. Sylvania Ave., is known for vegan tacos.)
Scary scene at an outlying restaurant
Hey, Bud! We decided to finally get out for a drive. Ended up in Granbury. ... The restaurant filled up, tables squished next to tables, no staff member wearing a mask, taking orders down in customers’ faces, plastic menus not cleaned.
—Cheryl, Fort Worth
Granbury folks were sad to hear this, particularly since they’ve launched an “I Wear a Mask Because I Love Granbury” campaign to promote to visitors. A few restaurants everywhere these days just flat aren’t friendly. They don’t care at all about safety, health laws, mask orders or state regulations. If you can’t sit away from any other tables in a restaurant, and if workers aren’t wearing masks, then absolutely do not dine there.
Food is safe, even if employees aren’t
Hey, Bud! Went to [a Fort Worth restaurant] and the kitchen employees were wearing masks, but did not have their noses covered. It gave me the creeps.
—Jill, Fort Worth
Food is safe from COVID-19. Kitchen workers wear masks to protect each other in close work quarters.
