Eats Beat

For patio dining and plenty of room, here are three Tex-Mex restaurants in Fort Worth

More great dining patios, including one for breakfast

Hey, Bud! What are some good little local restaurants with patios? Playing it safe.

—Marvin, Fort Worth

It’s amazing how many restaurants have little patios that go unnoticed. Restaurant Nuevo León, 1544 Ellis Ave., has one facing Marine Park and a big menu with dishes such as cabrito, grilled seafood platters and enchiladas verdes. Esperanza’s Restaurant & Bakery, 2122 N. Main St., has a handsome garden patio and serves a full menu at breakfast through early dinner. Los Vaqueros, 2629 N. Main St., has a large garden dining area. For barbecue, Woodshed Smokehouse, 3201 Riverfront Drive, has a big patio and plenty of room.

Nice dining outside, from steaks to seafood and Italian

Hey, Bud! What are some nicer local restaurants where you can eat outside?

—Charlie, Fort Worth

B&B Butchers and Restaurant’s patio is an anchor in Clearfork at 5212 Marathon Ave. It’s open and serving a full menu weekdays and Sundays at lunch and dinner, and also Saturdays at dinner. Waters, 301 Main St., now does more business on its back patio than up front. Nearby, Grace, 777 Main St., is known for steaks and has a small patio. Lonesome Dove Western Bistro also has patio dining, and don’t forget much-loved local patios like Piola Italian Restaurant & Garden or Lili’s Bistro.

Buffalo West steakhouse closed in Fort Worth

Hey, Bud! Did you see where Buffalo West closed?

—Sharon, Fort Worth

Buffalo West, a locally owned steakhouse that brought life back to an old Steak & Ale location, closed quietly Monday. The Western Hills neighborhood continues to be hard hit by the coronavirus recession, with two nearby barbecue restaurants moving away and another declining to rebuild after a fire.
