Peach pancakes? How about a ‘peacho’ de gallo burger? Here’s the local peach lowdown

Parker County’s Peach Week goes indoors

Hey, Bud! What are they having this year instead of the Peach Festival?

—Gilbert, Lake Worth

With so much spring rain, the peaches are juicy this year. Outdoor festivals aren’t a good idea, so Parker County is having Peach Week in restaurants. Try a “peacho” de gallo burger at Shep’s Scoreboard, peach cobblers or pastries at many restaurants and peach pork tenderloin Friday or peach pancakes Saturday at Blue Bonnet Kitchen in Willow Park.

Cooper’s finally gets its due

Hey, Bud! What about Cooper’s?

—One of the Coopers

Surprise: Cooper’s Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que’s customer service came out No. 1 as the best in Texas in a recent survey. The open-pit service gave Cooper’s the edge over another good barbecue restaurant, Miller’s in Belton, and Franklin Barbecue in Austin finished third for service. Other Texas winners were chains: Whataburger for fast-food, Little Caesars for pizza, Red Robin for burgers, Del Frisco’s for upscale and Jersey Mike’s Subs for sandwiches.

Pinstripes sets ‘em up again, finally

Hey, Bud! Is Pinstripes in Clearfork ever going to reopen?

—At least a half-dozen readers

Pinstripes Bistro Bowling Bocce is reopening July 17, with a table-service menu replacing the buffet and many games and seats distanced or moved outdoors. The bowling is limited and by reservation only, for example. There’s also a take-home package with pork ribs or lasagna for eight people ($120) or 16 ($225).
