Eats Beat

Fatburger is here. The LA chain’s only Texas restaurant is now open near Fort Worth.

Yes, that’s a California Fatburger in Texas

Hey, Bud! I saw a Fatburger opened near me on Precinct Line Road. Is that the real Fatburger?

—Curtis, North Richland Hills

That’s the real Fatburger from Los Angeles, “The Last Great Hamburger Stand,” and it’s open in The Crossing shops at Precinct Line and Texas 26. The regular burger is ⅓-pound, or stack it up to a triple large, 1½ pounds. Plant-based Impossible Burgers, turkey burgers, veggie burgers and chicken sandwiches are an option. (There’s also a chicken wing restaurant named Buffalo’s Express.)

Some of our very best, and this is only a few

Hey, Bud! What are some black-owned restaurants to help support?

—Several readers

This is a tough time for all restaurants, so help your local small independents. Some are among the best in their class, like Belzoni’s Catfish in White Settlement, Drew’s fried chicken on Curzon Avenue and Rosako’s homestyle cookiing in Bedford. I’ve written here about Carpenter’s lunches, Tastebuds’ no-fry menu, Nana’s Kitchen’s meatloaf, Jube’s, Robinson’s and Smoke-A-Holics’ barbecue, Sausage Shoppe’s homemade sausage and Madea’s home cooking in Everman. There are many more.

Click in an order for ramen or sushi

Hey, Bud! I heard there’s a new “ghost kitchen” restaurant in Fort Worth? It’s delivery-only?

—Roseanne, Fort Worth

That was in my midweek column about the Kintaro Ramen in downtown Arlington. Kinatro also has a kitchen in west Fort Worth making ramen and sushi for home delivery only — order online, no dine-in, no pickup. It’s run by Jesús García, who put Oni Ramen and Little Lilly Sushi on the map. Order at kintaroramen.kitchen.
