Eats Beat

Here’s the big news: Yes, you can still buy cocktails and margarita kits to go

Mix-yourself cocktails get the go-ahead

Hey, Bud! Do we still get margaritas to go?

—Rodney, Weatherford

You bet. Gov. Greg Abbott continued the waiver allowing restaurants to sell cocktail kits to go. (You have to mix them yourself, but I figure that’s not a problem.)

The law is the law, even in Colleyville

Hey, Bud! What’s with all the judgmental comments about the restaurants that opened last week? Why’s that your business?

—Colin, Keller

Pretty simple: The same laws should apply to everybody. The Texas Restaurant Association cut a deal wirh state officials to keep restaurants open for take-out only, so it was damaging when renegade restaurants in Colleyville and Arlington ignored the law and the agreement. (We’ve got new orders now for restaurants and customers and looser rules for cafes in outlying towns, so study up.)

Wear a mask. And stay 6 feet away

Hey, Bud! Wait — did you say rules for customers?

—Somebody who just read the first item

Yes:

Stay 6 feet away from anyone outside your own dining party.

Limit 6 people dining together.

Wear a mask or bandanna when you walk in; while you’re waiting for food; and if you get up for any reason.

Wash your hands when you arrive.

Wash your hands again after paying.
