Hey, Bud! What’s up with the Jambo’s Barbeque Shack location in Pantego?

That property has changed hands. New owner. Robert Patterson has reopened it and has indicated to City Hall that he plans to change the name.. (The phone is 817-617-2349, but the social media hadn’t been updated at midweek.) All the Jambo’s have different owners. The Strein family owns the near-perfect Original Jambo’s in Rendon, 5460 Farm Road 1187 East (Rendon-Bloodworth Road), Rendon; 817-478-2277, jambosoriginalbbqshack.com, and Paul Lovato at the historic Jambo’s in west Arlington, 1724 W. Division St., 817-275-7881.

Famous Louisiana cafe moves to southeast Arlington

Hey, Bud! What happened to Damian’s Cajun Soul Cafe? He moved from near the GM plant.

Damian Placide, son of legendary New Iberia, La., chef Brenda Placide, has made a big move. He’s opened a new, larger cafe at 2001 SE Green Oaks Blvd. He’s open daily except Monday now with different menus every day, including fried chicken, pork chops, gumbo, etouffee and his personal specials like smoked meatloaf (Thursdays). Hey, Bud! Are any Eagle Mountain Lake restaurants open for take-out? It’d be a nice drive.

Yes! Sammy’s on the Lake, the dockside version of Dos Molinas’, is open Thursdays through Sundays at 6680 Peden Road. It’s serving street tacos, chicken fajita salads, cheeseburger baskets and daily specials; 682-841-1122. The county park nearby is open for walks and hiking.
