Yes, but there’s great news. Mexican Inn Cafe is reopening, starting with the Bedford location. Los Zarapes Restaurant, 1503 NW 25th St., is selling $5 dinners, $7 chiles rellenos plates and $40 family fajitas with three pounds (!) of chicken or beef. Dos Molinas’ Restaurant, 404 NW 25th St., is selling $29.99 family enchilada dinners and $32.99 fajitas with huge, fluffy tortillas. Los Pastores Restaurant, 3806 E. Rosedale St., sells a $39.99 family dinner with nachos or quesadillas, two pounds of fajitas and tres leches cake.

Anywhere but big stores. I’ve been recommending Neighbor’s House Grocery, 501 W.. Sixth St. downtown, and the Braum’s Ice Cream & Dairy stores. (They’re restocked daily.) I hear Hong Kong Market, 2615 W. Pioneer Parkway near Texas 360, is well-stocked, and other ethnic and import supermarkets are not as busy. Also, restaurants like The Dive Burger Bar, 3620 Alta Mere Drive, are also selling groceries cheap and with drive-through service.
What happened to the mixed drinks to go?

The Dallas Observer’s Philip Kingston took a look at Gov. Greg Abbott’s memos, and found that take-away mixed drinks were actually legal for one day until Abbott and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) changed the orders. Takeaway drinks are still legal, but can’t be mixed (they’re only legal if you buy the liquor and mixers and mix your own drink.)
