New owner at Blu Crab in Ridglea

Hey, Bud! Has something changed at the Blu Crab?

—Donna, Fort Worth

The Blu Crab, 6115 Camp Bowie Blvd., has new owners and a new chef, with a new menu in the works. It’s always had high ratings on social media from a devoted following, and the new owners seem to be emphasizing crab and shrimp boils along with fried and grilled seafood. More in a future Eats Beat.

Drive-through restaurants were busy

Hey, Bud! I’m really worried about the little restaurants. What can we do to help?

—Angela, Fort Worth

The restaurants with take-out windows were doing really good business early in the week. Some had lines double-looping around the restaurant. And a few even offers discounts like the $3 carryout chopped beef sandwiches at Angelo’s Barbecue or the 25% off at Curly’s. Some restaurants are always teetering on the verge of failure. but loving customers will help beloved restaurants stay afloat.

Memories fail us, but Spanish Galleon was a trip

Hey, Bud! What was the restaurant in Forest Park Boulevard where the front door was like walking into a shark’s mouth?

—Robert, Fort Worth

The Spanish Galleon was a 1970s seafood restaurant . It was like walking into the hatch of a giant Spanish sailing ship, but people mistakenly remember it as a shark’s or whale’s mouth. Texas Monthly described it as a “Disney approach” to architecture and decor.
