Eats Beat

Hey, Bud! When’s Wilson’s BBQ reopening, and where’s a $1 marg for Margarita Day?

Wilson’s BBQ will be back soon

Hey, Bud! Is Wilson’s Bar-B-Q going to rebuild since the fire? I haven’t seen any activity.

—Eric, Fort Worth

Leroy Wilson says work was supposed to begin this week repairing his restaurant on Brentwood Stair Road near Loop 820. The 40-year-old building caught fire Jan. 4.

Where are those $1 margaritas again?

Hey, Bud! Did you write something about $1 margaritas Saturday for National Margarita Day? I didn’t see it.

—Elaine, Arlington

The comprehensive coverage for Saturday’s National Margarita Day appeared Wednesday, or you can always keep up at star-telegram.com/eatsbeat. Dallas-bsed El Fenix has small $1 margaritas. But the best deal might be the $2 house margs or $5 Jose Cuervo 1800 margs at Dallas-based On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina.

This time, don’t blame the Crockett Row parking

Hey, Bud! I read your Facebook post about El Bolero Mexican closing. Why do you really think it closed? IMHO it was the parking.

—George, Fort Worth

It was a comedy of errors. The owners opened up nearly the same restaurant that closed there earlier (as Hacienda San Miguel). Upscale Mexico City-style doesn’t do as well as Tex-Mex. And the menu didn’t showcase the best dishes (the seafood). I never have trouble parking there.
