Chef Tim Love’s Gemelle in Fort Worth named one of Texas’ 10 best new restaurants
Gemelle, celebrity chef Tim Love’s “Euro-American” pizza garden and restaurant named as a tribute to his twin daughters, is ranked one of Texas’ 10 best new restaurants in the new issue of Texas Monthly.
In its annual “Where to Eat Now” feature, the magazine praises Gemelle’s rectangular pizzas with garden-fresh toppings, along with the celery root carpaccio ravioli with rabbit-rattlesnake sausage.
Gemelle has had a roller-coaster start. The garden patio, bocce court and bar were crowded in warmer weather. particularly for cocktails such as the signature frozen Aperol spritz.
After some initial confusion, Gemelle has settled down to serving pastas like a spot-on cacio e pepe, crisp-crust pizzas and entrees such as a lemon-garlic roasted chicken or a Saturday night Italian-style steak special.
On a recent visit, the server was inexperienced and the chicken needed a bit more lemon, but the chopped salad and cacio e pepe were pronounced perfect by an out-of-town foodie guest.
The location along the Clear Fork levees beneath the White Settlement Road bridge is a 73-year-old former tavern and roadhouse dive lounge.
Gemelle — the word literally means a matching pair or set, commonly applied to twins — honors daughters Ella and Anna.
Since Gemelle opened, Love has launched a different project, a new rooftop tapas bar in the Stockyards area, Ático.
Gemelle is open for dinner Wednesdays and Thursdays, lunch and dinner Fridays through Sundays at 4400 White Settlement Road; 817-732-9535, gemelleftw.com.
