Buon Giorno Coffee cafe opens new Fort Worth location
Long a sedate bank, the First on 7th tower is becoming a fascinating all-day dining stop.
Buon Giorno Coffee, new to West Seventh Street but not new to Fort Worth, is open in a former bank lobby across from Burnett Park at 500 W. Seventh St., serving paninis, quiche and pastries from breakfast till early evening.
It pairs nicely with the new Neighbor’s House Grocery next door, a gourmet grocery that now serves breakfast tacos, sandwiches, hot lunches seven days a week and evening dinners and burgers.
.Between the two, you can have morning coffee, lunchtime soup or a sandwich and grab a dinner and snack to take home.
For those of us working on the south end of downtown, it’s a revolutionary change. Until now, we mostly had to get by with office building cafes like the above-average Caffini’s Cafe or pizza and pasta from Picchi Pacchi.
Buon Giorno starts the day (or finishes it) with its signature lattes in flavors such as Italian mint or blueberry cobbler.
The paninis ($5-$8) range from grilled cheese to turkey, ham, prosciutto or avocado, or breakfast choices.
As always, Buon Giorno offers a large selection of pastries, from jumbo-size quiche slices to sausage rolls and sweet baked goods.
If the old Buon Giorno nearby on Florence Street felt like a comfy living room, the new location feels like ... well, like a former bank lobby.
But there’s plenty of seating, or take your coffee and snack outside into the tower lobby or the Isamu Noguchi sculpture plaza.
It’s open for breakfast, lunch and early dinner daily; 817-378-4505, bgcoffee.net.
Neighbor’s House Grocery, next door (inside a door that is technically at 501 W. Sixth St), is open daily for breakfast, lunch and early dinner; 817-507-9191, neighborshousegrocery.com.
