Two good new Fort Worth hotspots: Wishbone & Flynt, Stockyards high-rise bar Ático
Two of Fort Worth’s favorite chefs brought us two gifts for the New Year.
Just south of downtown, former Max’s chef Stefon Rishel brought South Main Village its first all-day restaurant, Wishbone & Flynt, along with its cool new Amber Room bar.
In the Stockyards, chef Tim Love opened a striking rooftop cocktail and tapas bar with a panoramic view of downtown, Ático.
Wishbone & Flynt is going into its first weekend drawing dining and bar patrons to 334 Bryan Ave. and Main+Broad, a mixed-use project near the Shipping & Receiving bar.
The dinner menu includes a steak, bouillabaisse, shrimp dishes and a “deconstructed pot pie” chicken puff pastry dish that Rishel tested last year at the Fort Worth Food & Wine Festival ($18-$24 — the steak is market price).
But the highlight might be an herb-roasted half chicken with chard and risotto ($22). There’s also a roasted poblano soup.
The lunch menu weekdays ($10-$15) serves a cheddar burger, a fried chicken sandwich and salads. For breakfast, there’s a choice of bacon- or chorizo-and-egg tacos ($6), a bacon-and-eggs platter ($10) and “select tequila shots” ($4).
The weekend brunch ($10-$12) features tiramisu French toast, blueberry pancakes, chilaquiles, an enchilada stack and an alluring and healthy roasted chile relleno with lime Greek yogurt crema.
It’s open weekdays at 7 a.m. and weekends at 10 a.m. for breakfast, brunch or lunch and dinner; at the corner of Bryan Avenue and East Broadway Street. Peek into the Amber Room bar alongside; wishboneandflynt.com.
Ático opened last weekend and patrons learned right away: This is an easy-going rooftop cocktail lounge and tapas bar, not a full-service restaurant.
If you’re looking for a seated dinner, the Stockyards has other options. But make sure to go to Ático first, for the skyline view atop a North Main Street hotel and for a blood-orange sangria or a cocktail.
Chef Tim Love’s bar menu features a choice of clever small plates. Go with the flatbreads ($12-$14), the charcuterie plate ($22) or the Ibérico ham-and-egg ($14).
Who can resist brisket croquettes ($14)? Or the Spanish-style french fries with ranchero sauce and aioli ($10)?
Ático is open weeknights and at 11 a.m. weekends; 2315 N. Main St., 682-255-5112, marriott.com.
