Wilson’s BBQ reopens by summer. But when’s opening day for Stockyards Shake Shack?

Watch for Wilson’s to return, maybe by summer

Hey, Bud! How long till Wilson’s BBQ reopens?

—Old-school phone caller

Wilson’s burned Saturday, Jan. 4, and will be closed for repairs two months, Leroy Wilson guessed. So I’ll guess four months, allowing time for work slowdowns and permits. Be watching Wilson’s at 6513 Brentwood Stair Road.

Stockyards, meet Shake Shack. (Hold the shallots.)

Hey, Bud! When is Shake Shack in the Stockyards opening?

—Claire, Fort Worth

New York-based Shake Shack promises an opening date for the East Exchange Avenue location will be announced next week. (In the meantime, Shake Shack has announced a new Texas-only burger with shallots marinated in Shiner Bock.)

For an anniversary dinner in Southlake, I’d pick — not a steakhouse

Hey, Bud! If you were celebrating an anniversary in Southlake, would you rather eat at il Calabrese, Kirby’s or Truluck’s?

—Drew, Fort Worth

I’d rather eat at Mughlai Fine Indian Cuisine, maybe the best and most beautiful Indian restaurant west of Dallas. But in the steak-and-seafood bracket, I’ll pick Truluck’s — went recently and was delighted with the updated menu and variety. Kirby’s is a good value. And il Calabrese is good in its own way.
