Where’s Campo Verde and Candlelite Inn? Arlington favorites will reopen this weekend
Campo Verde, Candlelite reopen by this weekend
Hey, Bud! We all went to Campo Verde Mexican Restaurant and it was dark. What’s up?
—Allison, Arlington
Hey, Bud! We went to Candlelite Inn because Campo Verde was closed, but it wasn’t open either. ???
—Jerry, Arlington
Both Campo Verde and Candlelite Inn took some time off, but both are reopening by this weekend. The big Christmas crowds wore down the staff at Campo Verde in Dalworthington Gardens, but they’re back and the Christmas lights stay up into March. Candlelite Inn took a few days off around New Year’s, but is open again at 1202 E. Division St. after some updates, in case you’re jonesing for their escabeche-style green sauce.
All-you-can-eat BBQ: It’s a Collin County thing
Hey, Bud! Does anyone serve all-you-can-eat barbecue anymore?
—Gordon, Weatherford
North Main BBQ in Euless still serves a buffet, although the founding Green family has gone off to start a new BBQ trailer nearby. Until I checked around, I didn’t know Hutchins BBQ in Frisco and McKinney has an all-you-can-eat deal for $25. Well worth the drive, I hear.
Table for 10? Cafe Modern can handle that
Hey, Bud! Need a family dinner for 10 on a Friday night — I tried [a Tex-Mex restaurant] but they don’t take reservations. My son is vegan. Any ideas?
—Steve, Fort Worth
Cafe Modern is open for dinner every Friday night. The menu has some impressive vegan selections along with seafood, salads and usually at least one good steak.
