Hey, Bud! What happened to all those Dairy Queens? (And who has good lamb chops?)

Hey, Bud! Why’d all those Dairy Queens close?

—Bud, Granbury

Half the Dairy Queens in Tarrant County closed this week, but nine are still open. The locations that closed were all lavish new restaurants on expensive real estate in suburban areas; I don’t know why they closed, but it’s tough to sell enough burgers and dipped cones to pay those bills. (Writers talk about how Whataburger has displaced Dairy Queen as the official fast-food of Texas, but don’t ignore how Oklahoma-based Braum’s and Sonic have taken more burgers-and-ice-cream-Blast business.)

Hey, Bud! Best lamb chops in Fort Worth?

—Elise, Fort Worth

That’s a tough call. I’m not excited about any I’ve tried, but the consensus on social media seems to be Clay Pigeon, 2731 White Settlement Road. I haven’t had lamb chops there, but everything Marcus Paslay and chef Bria Downey do is great.

Hey, Bud! Why don’t you ever give the addresses of restaurants?

—Lots of readers

I’ve always given the address at the end of an item, so now I’m moving it up. There’s less room on Twitter (@EatsBeat), Facebook (facebook.com/diningguy) and Instagram (@BudKennedy), but I try to at least give some idea. Exact addresses are more important than ever, particularly because some restaurants have names Siri doesn’t know.
