‘Mexican-style’ migas? Sure, why not? Here’s where to find them near Fort Worth
North Richland Hills is not known for unique local restaurants.
But La Conchita is an impressive exception.
The small Mexican cafe at 5212 Rufe Snow Drive brags at the front door that it serves “the real taste of Mexico.”
That’s always open for debate. But a recent weekend breakfast was one of the best in this part of Tarrant County, and proved that the taqueria-style restaurant can live up to its social media praise.
La Conchita is the first restaurant I’ve seen offering “migas Mexican-style.”
That’s not a misnomer. Migas (“crumbs”) is mostly a Tex-Mex and northern Mexico (migas norteñas) dish of tortilla chips, eggs, tomatoes, peppers, onions and cheese.
Now I know: At La Conchita, “Mexican-style” means the dish is made with grilled onions, tomatoes and peppers.
The bigger surprise was a very interior-Mexico chilaquiles verdes breakfast, with chips, cheese and a hot green sauce guarantted to wake up diners.
The menu offers street tacos, Mexico-style enchiladas and tortas plus alambre and menudo on weekends.
La Conchita has a serving line and a quick-service taqueria atmosphere.
It opens at 7:30 a.m. daily for breakfast and lunch, and serves dinner on Saturdays.
It’s in the same shopping center with timeless Sandy’s Real Chicken Fried Steaks; 817-514-8261, laconchitatx.com
