First look at Thanksgiving buffets: Here’s two for under $25, plus a new hotel option
It’s never too early to book Thanksgiving Day reservations, and three Fort Worth and Arlington restaurants are planning family buffets:
▪ Heaven’s Gate Restaurant, a folksy breakfast and lunch home-cooking buffet, will start its turkey buffet at 10 a.m. this year.
For $16.99, the little plate-lunch cafe on North Main Street near Meacham Airport will serve turkey plus more than 15 other choices including prime rib, brisket, chicken, fajitas and enchiladas.
Heaven’s Gate has grown and improved in recent years, adding a landscaped patio and more Tex-Mex menu items including enchiladas, tacos and breakfast platters like chilaquiles verdes.
The classic fried chicken is still served every day and now also comes on the regular weekend breakfast buffet ($10.99).
Heaven’s Gate also serves roast pork, meat loaf and typical homestyle classics on a daily lunch buffet ($12.99).

▪ Blue Mesa Grill will open at 10 a.m. Thanksgiving and serve a giant version of its regular weekend buffet.
Roast turkey and glazed ham will be on the $24 buffet, along with corncake stuffing, sweet potatoes and pumpkin flan for dessert.
The regular buffet includes fajitas, chicken and fish dishes,blue corn enchiladas, adobe pie and a choice of salads and desserts.
Blue Mesa’s Thanksgiving buffet will be served until 4 p.m.
If you’d like to scout the place, there’s a regular Saturday and Sunday buffet, Tuesday taco buffet and Wednesday lunch buffet.

▪ Cut & Bourbon at Live! by Loews-Arlington will open at 10 a.m. Thanksgiving for its inaugural “tailgate brunch.”
For Thanksgiving, the Loews will serve a $49 buffet with food stations including turkey, ham, prime rib, salmon and chicken.
It starts early enough to beat the Cowboys game crowd. And it continues until 4 p.m., when the crowd is inside the stadium.

▪ In west Fort Worth, the Buffalo West steakhouse will serve a $45 turkey and prime rib buffet, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; 7101 Camp Bowie Blvd. West, 817-732-2370, buffalowestfw.com.
▪ In Fort Worth, the affordable and classic Lucile’s Stateside Bistro restaurant is booking up quickly for its annual Thanksgiving dinner, along with Silver Fox Steakhouse.
In Arlington, The Keg Steakhouse & Bar is starting to fill up. In Irving, same goes for the brunch at LAW at Four Seasons Dallas.
