$5 Blaze pizzas, 30-35% off Pei Wei or Corner Bakery and more: Dial up dining deals

Most restaurant discounts are not worth talking about. The days of 2-for-1 dinners are mostly gone, except for occasional mail offers from Flying Fish or Spring Creek Barbecue.

But here’s a new discount that works well and can save you daily dollars.

The new AT&T Thanks app for AT&T customers actually offers some hefty discounts over and over.

Just show the coupon (it’s on an app) for 41 percent off a Blaze Pizza, 35 percent off one entree daily at Pei Wei, 25 percent off an entire order daily at Potbelly and 20 percent off (30 percent after 4 p.m.) an entire order daily at Corner Bakery:

California-based Blaze Pizza is offering any 1-topping pizza for $5, down from $8.45. It’s available once daily (order in-person, dine-in only), but right now that ends Dec. 28.

Irving-based Pei Wei has a longer offer but also the most restrictions. The 35 percent discount applies to 20 regular-sized rice, noodle or salad bowls, cutting a $10 rice entree to $6.50.

Chicago-based Potbelly Sandwiches will take 25 percent off an entire order (in person) — sandwiches, cookies, drinks, everything.

Eats Beat Ep. 147

DFW Restaurant Week

Dallas-based Corner Bakery doubles up, offering 20 percent off an entire order at lunch, and/or 30 percent off an entire order after 4 p.m. (Disclosure: I tested this one by buying a box of cookies at 4 p.m.)

For details, download the AT&T Thanks app or see att.com/ATTThanks‎.

(I’m also inclined to use Groupon deals. Restaurants offering nearly half off this week included Bodacious Barbecue, Boo-Ray’s, Campfire Grill, Gino’s East, La Bistro, Mercury Chophouse Fort Worth, Miguelitos and Tommy’s Hamburgers, among many.)

Always remember: Tip based on the full price, not the discount.
