Hey, Bud! What do you hear about Parton’s Pizza? Their new dining room was supposed to be done by now.

—Beverly, Fort Worth

Parton’s, an old-school thin-crust pizza buffet, is celebrating its 50th anniversary by doubling in size. (So will you, if you eat every day at a pizza buffet.) More news soon.

Hey, Bud! What are some great places in Weatherford for lunch?

—Stephanie, Fort Worth

Fire Oak Grill on the square is a reliable Southwestern grill. Zeno’s on the Square has excellent Italian cooking. The Malt Shop in Fort Worth Highway is a classic drive-in restaurant.

Hey, Bud! I see you’ve written about the Star Cafe and Hoffbrau in recent weeks. What’s your No. 1 chicken-fried steak now?

—Gene, Fort Worth

Still Billy’s Oak Acres BBQ on Camp Bowie Boulevard West, but that doesn’t mean I don’t check out the rest. Both the Star and Hoffbrau rank high, along with Ginger Brown’s on Texas 199. Over in Arlington, Mac’s Grill has one of the finest steakhouse renditions of chicken-fried steak. And Tom’s has an interesting version with a crumbled-potato-chip crust.
