Serious red beans & rice in a new Near Southside bar
Hey, Bud! What’s the new bar near downtown Fort Worth with gumbo and po-boys?
Curious Cajun
The new Twilite Lounge, 212 Lipscomb St., is a dimly lit bar with a kitchen serving po-boys and some fierce red beans and rice. No gumbo yet until business builds, but the debris po-boys with mustard sauce are definitely worth the trip. (But watch your step. It’s dark in there.)
Hey, Bud! There was a nice Italian restaurant in University Park Village where Pacific Table is now. Did it move, or close?
Missing the minestrone
La Piazza, an exclusive high-end Italian restaurant, is in its 26th year and moved a few years ago to a new home at 2930 Bledsoe St. (That’s off West Lancaster Avenue near the museums.) Owner Vito Ciraci is still offering a $25 three-course dinner special most Mondays. Dress nicely.
Hey, Bud! You didn’t mention anything about B&B Butchers Restaurant & Butcher Shop. When — ?
Sandy, Fort Worth
“First week of January” is the answer they’re giving now at the new prime steakhouse in the Shops at Clearfork. Took a look inside this week and it wasn’t anywhere close. I do think you can go ahead and book a table for Valentine’s Day.
